Home measurement appraisals involve a certified appraiser accurately measuring the square footage of an entire property using the ANSI standard. The appraiser physically walks through a property, takes measurements with laser devices, draws a detailed layout of the property, then puts together an appraisal report on the findings. The findings include measurements for things like stairs, hallways, fireplaces, exterior walls, porches, patios, garages, interior walls, upper levels, basements, and guest houses. The measurements that are compiled are then put into a legal report which outlines the property’s “gross living area,” which is the total living space.
